May 1st is celebrated as International Workers' Day or Labour Day in many countries around the world. This day is dedicated to the working class and laborers who have contributed to the economic and social growth of their respective countries. In this article, we will explore the history and global development of this significant day.

International Workers' Day has its roots in the labor movement of the 19th century. The industrial revolution brought significant changes in the working conditions of laborers, who were exploited by their employers. Workers came together to form unions and fight for their rights, leading to the emergence of the labor movement.

In 1886, workers in the United States organized a general strike to demand an eight-hour workday. On May 1st of that year, around 350,000 workers went on strike across the country. This strike became known as the Hay market affair, which turned violent when a bomb was thrown at the police, resulting in the deaths of several people. The event led to the establishment of May 1st as International Workers' Day in memory of the workers who lost their lives in the struggle for their rights.

International Workers' Day is celebrated in many countries worldwide, including China, Cuba, Russia, and India. The day is marked by various events, such as parades, rallies, and speeches, to honor the contributions of the working class.

In China, Labour Day is a three-day public holiday, during which people travel and enjoy leisure activities. In Cuba, the day is celebrated with parades and cultural events. In Russia, the day is known as Spring and Labour Day, and people celebrate with parades and traditional dances.

In India, the day is not a public holiday, but it is observed by various labor organizations and trade unions. Workers participate in rallies and marches to demand better working conditions and fair wages.

International Workers' Day is a significant day for the working class, and it commemorates the struggle of laborers for their rights. The day has evolved to become a global event, marked by various activities that highlight the contributions of workers to the growth and development of their respective countries.
